Build and deploy custom AI agents, automate marketing workflows, and integrate AI tools into the martech stack to improve team efficiency.
As our Marketing AI Intern, youâll help the marketing team work faster and smarter with AI. Youâll sit with the team and build the things that remove busywork â custom AI agents, automated workflows, and small internal tools. You donât need to have done this job before. You need to be technical enough to pick it up quickly, and driven enough to keep going when the documentation runs out. Weâll teach you the marketing side. You will report to the Sr. Director, Marketing Operations.
This is a 4-month, full-time, contract role. Youâll be embedded with the marketing team from day one, working through a real backlog of AI projects on a daily cadence. This is a build role, not a shadowing role â expect to ship things people actually use.
This is a remote role that can be based anywhere in the US.
Build AI Agents Build and improve custom AI agents and agentic workflows (using Claude, OpenAI GPTs, and similar platforms) that help specific marketing roles â field marketing, content, digital marketing, and marketing operations. Youâll collect feedback from the team and keep iterating.
Workflow Automation Learn tools like Zapier, MCP connectors, and LLM integrations, then use them to wire AI into our existing martech stack (Marketo, Salesforce, 6sense, and more), replacing manual steps with automated ones.
MCP Connectors Help build and maintain Model Context Protocol (MCP) connectors across our marketing applications. MCP is how we give AI tools secure, structured access to our systems â weâll teach you how it works, and youâll own pieces of it as you ramp.
Prompt Engineering Help build a shared library of prompts, skills, and brand voice frameworks so AI output stays consistent across the team, and help document the guardrails for how we use these tools.
Backlog Delivery Work through projects from marketingâs AI backlog and ship something useful most weeks. Momentum and follow-through matter more here than polish.
Enablement & Office Hours Help run office hours and walk teammates through new tools. A lot of the value in this role comes from sitting next to someone and unblocking them.

Build and deploy custom AI agents, automate marketing workflows, and integrate AI tools into the martech stack while supporting team adoption and enablement.

Builds relationships with school mental health professionals through outbound outreach, cold calling, and email campaigns to drive referrals to Handspring's virtual mental health clinic.
Who We Are
Today, 1 in 5 children in the U.S. has a diagnosable mental health disorder, yet about half who need care never receive it. Handspring is a virtual mental health clinic for children, young adults, and families, and weâve set out to rebuild this system from the ground up. Weâre a team of diverse, mission-driven people dedicated to making quality mental healthcare accessible to every young person and their family.
About the Role
Weâre hiring an Outreach Associate to grow the referral channel that brings families to Handspring.
Weâve cared for more than 4,000 families, and most found us the same way: through a referral from someone they trust, most often a mental health professional at their childâs school.
Thatâs where you come in. Your job is to build relationships with the school mental health professionals who guide families to care. Youâll get Handspring in front of them and turn the ones who believe in our work into active referral partners. You wonât be starting from zero. Weâve built relationships with these professionals through the years, and youâll have real assets to work with.
This is a doing job. The day-to-day is outbound work: research, email, phone calls, and persistence, and some of it is grunt work. The best person for it is self-directed, resourceful, and relentless about follow-through. We expect this role to grow with the channel, and weâll invest in making that happen.
What Youâll Do
Build and run outbound. Build targeted lists of school mental health professionals, run cold sequences, and own deliverability end to end.
Own the messaging. Create cold sequences, event campaigns, reminder flows, follow-up, and nurture, with copy tailored to the person reading it.
Pick up the phone. Cold call prospective referral partners. Many of our best relationships will never start over email.
Work every channel. Run outreach across relevant platforms, using automation thoughtfully where it makes sense.
Fill the room. Drive registrations and attendance for our clinical webinar trainings, then follow up with attendees to identify the most promising referral partners.
Convert interest into relationships. Book conversations with our clinical team, help set up dedicated trainings, and stay engaged with active referral partners.
Test and learn. Develop and test new ways to engage prospective referral partners, from offers and resources to outreach materials, then use the results to refine what works.
Build the playbook. Partner with the Head of Growth to document what works so it runs without heroics.
Youâll own clear metrics across outreach, event attendance, and referral partner activation.
Who You Are
2-4 years in outbound, BDR/SDR, demand gen, or growth, hands-on with Instantly, Clay, Outreach, Smartlead, Apollo, or comparable tooling. What matters most is that youâve built something you can point to, not a dashboard you monitored.
Both email and phone. You can write a sequence that gets replies and pick up the phone the same afternoon. Strong writers who wonât dial, and strong dialers who wonât write, will struggle here.
Copywriting youâre proud of. What converted matters far more than what got opened.
Real research instinct. You like the puzzle of figuring out how an organization actually works and who inside it can say yes.
Care for the work. You can talk about youth mental health with the care it deserves.
Why Join Handspring
A mission that matters. Half the young people who need mental health care never receive it, and every referral you generate makes it easier for a family to find care.
Real ownership, and a full view. Youâll run this channel alongside the Head of Growth, working closely with our clinical and operations teams and seeing how the whole business fits together.
A clear path forward. For the right person this is a launchpad, and weâll treat it that way as the channel grows.
